MD of Bighorn
The MD of Bighorn administrative buildings are located in Exshaw and provide municipal services to the region. Residents of the MD are encouraged to take part and volunteer to be members for various boards and committees.
The website provides useful information for new residents, newsletters, suggested activities in the region, meeting minutes and agendas, along with a host of services to residents in hamlet.
Bighorn Library
We contribute to the well-being and health of our community by providing information, supporting literacy and bringing people together. Through our participation in Marigold Library System, our library is a single point of access to millions of books, audiobooks, eBooks, DVDs, events and more.

Exshaw Legion, BR. #179
The Heart Mountain Legion is a chartered branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, started in 1946. The Legion’s canteen offers relaxed prices on beer, wine, and hi-balls and a pub food style menu. Annual memberships are available within our branch.
Exshaw Fire
Proudly serving the residents of the MD of Bighorn, as well as our Mutual Aid partners in the Stoney Nakoda First Nation and the Bow Valley region.
Bighorn Emergency Services is actively seeking volunteers. Previous fire training is not required to join the fire department – all training is provided at no cost and you are compensated for training time. Learn more
Exshaw School
Exshaw School is a Kindergarten to Grade 8 School located in the community of Exshaw. Graduating students continue on to the Canmore Collegiate for their High School education. Our students come from Exshaw, Canmore, and the nearby Stoney First Nations Reserve of Morley.
Exshaw Trail Alliance
A volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to working with local trail associations and the Alberta Government for new trail development in addition to maintaining existing trails in our area. Follow their Facebook page for regular updates and trail conditions.
WildSmart
WildSmart is a proactive conservation program that encourages efforts by Bow Valley communities to reduce negative human-wildlife interactions.
